About

Ela Soža spent her early years vagabonding between Croatia and Switzerland due to her parents’ jobs. Growing up in the bosom of a musical family, by the water and in the summer mostly barefoot, was formative for her sense of freedom. After starting school and relocating to Zurich for good, movement and music were an important anchor.

  • Later, songwriting led Ela to London, where she pursued music professionally. Returning to Zurich, she found stability and stillness through yoga. Since her first class, the practice has been a daily companion—a path to self-care, resilience, and exploration.

Ela completed her 200-hour teacher training in Bali in 2015, followed by advanced studies in Psychosomatics, Yoga in Prison, and Yin Yoga. She teaches Vinyasa, Hatha, and Yin in English and German, encouraging playful curiosity while working beyond the comfort zone.

Clay became another grounding force along the way. In her pottery workshops and retreats, Ela invites others to explore the meditative joy of creating with their hands—combining movement, breath, and craft.

In fall 2025, Ela will begin a three-year Gestaltungspädagogik program at the Integrative Training Center (IAC) in Zurich. This part-time training focuses on guiding creative processes in social, educational, and leisure settings. The curriculum covers material exploration (e.g., paper, clay, and wood), artistic development, and culminates in a diploma project and public exhibition.

My aim is to give space to the body and mind where before there might have been a sense of tension and constriction, assisting the transition of ease and playfulness on the mat into everyday life.

Testimonials

“With her positive presence and genuine way of meeting people, Ela is for me a true pearl among yoga teachers. Thanks to her powerful yoga classes, my posture has improved by leaps and bounds, at the same time she always brings me back to myself. Ela's yoga is the perfect blend of movement, spirituality and exuberance.” Edita, 39

  • “The yoga classes with Ela have a pleasant flow. She knows how to keep the exercises challenging without overtaxing. She keeps an eye on the practitioners, supports and corrects the pose if necessary. I particularly like the gentle build-up of the classes, from the introduction to the exertion and the final relaxation. She knows how to respond to the mood and needs of the participants and to design the exercises accordingly. After each yoga practice with Ela, I feel both pleasantly challenged and relaxed.” Michaela, 61

“Ela's classes begin with a meditation that establishes contact with ourselves and allows everyday life to fade completely into the background. In a slow warm-up phase, she starts to challenge the body more and more and in a flowing change of poses the body is trained and strength is built up. The programme is very varied, so that we train our body from the top of our head to the bottom of our feet and work up a sweat. Her kind and natural presence is compelling, and she is both empathetic and funny.” Sabine, 53
